After about a thousand rounds through my 12 ga Dakin 215. I've started having ejector problems on the left barrel. If the gun is opened slowly(as to catch the hull with my hand) the ejector will release early and the hull will hit the standing breach. If opened briskly the hull will eject properly. I have disassembled and inspected each part and notice no signs of wear with the exception of the left ejector hammer that is showing some wear on the striking face. There are no issues with the right side ejector. I would think that any wear to associated parts would tend to make the ejector release late ...not early. Suggestions?

i would look for burrs, i think it has a southgate type of ejector look at where the overcenter tumbler and spring meet.open and close the gun and take the forend off and look at the tumblers to see if both are in the same place (back)mc

No idea. Thinking of the gun as a system, see if you can find some aspect out of time. At very least, remove or have the springs removed to see how they are in relation to one another. My complete guess is something within the action is blocking some movement.

(removed the double post)
Call up William Larkin Moore and see who they might have work on their Spanish guns?

Problem identified. As mc suggested compared operation of tumblers with forearm iron only attached. Looks like a typical case of soft Spanish metal. The left side tumbler has worn where it contacts the spring allowing a premature release of the ejector. So.....who works on Dakin's, Union Armeras, Grullas, et al ?

I recommend you talk with Cole Haugh of Indiana. He was doing Ugartechea warranty work for a while for Jon Hollinger from Aspen Outfitting and has visited Spain and knows all about the Spanish method of heat treatment.
I had him work on a Zabala that I originally sent to have the top lever screw replaced. He made me a new screw for $15.00 and did a bunch of other stuff on my punch list for a very reasonable fee and relatively quickly compared to other experiences I've had. He 'smiths on the side but he is the son of Jack Haugh so you know the apple doesn't fall very far from the tree. Cole can be reached at work during the day at 812-926-0324, Ext. 112 or email him at fsicole@yahoo.com.
Give him a call,
Bruce
