Many of the locals don't seem to agree, but to my palate guinea fowl is as good as any chinese ringneck, so pot one for me!

I would stay away from Mikey. Remeber most fatalities among hunters involving jumbo are the result of action by an elephant other than the one being hunted,.....or when no elephant was being hunted.

CC/dt suggests you try the local (very warm) Zulu beer in the wax carton

By the way, Dig. The camp etiquette for guinea fowl tends to be a little different from the fields we know and love. The boys are almost inevitably rather hungry for meat and they like you to sluice them on the ground. 1/1 is NOT up to the mark, they like 3 or 4. They regard wingshooting as inefficient and a waste of expensive and hard to get cartridges. I've evenutally worked out a compromise where I'm allowed to use the second barrel on the wing...if I've hit some with the first. Beware the muttered phrase, "The bwanas cannot shoot." Soon after comes insurrection and bloody war. Best, Leo

"It is all fun and games until someone looses an eye". Must have occurred to the PH on his way to the hospital. Be safe and have fun but do not forget to take a ton of pictures. For many, pictures are as near to Africa aw we will get in this lifetime. Enjoy your trip and have fun for us while you are there.
I agree that guinea are excellent eating. Maybe my taste run to the dark side but turkey, the farm raised type, is bland and tastless to me.

Anyone know if any outfitter offers trips just to go over to Africa and wing shoot at, of course, a reasonable price?? All the best
