The above method works well, but I use a bent and rounded screwdriver blade which I heat with a propane torch as my heating iron. I also found by experimentation that soaking the area of the dent with rubbing alcohol, after removal of the finish, gives me a better result than the wet cloth alone. It seems that generating the steam from within the wood raises the dents better than trying to force the steam down into the wood. Allow the rubbing alcohol to soak in for a while. I was even able to substantially raise some where the fibers of the wood were crushed. Watch that your heating iron doesn't dry out your wet pad and scorch the wood.
