During that time he has worked tirelessly to improve the products we shooters enjoy and overcome many of the myths surrounding BP. I have been fortunate to tap into just a fraction of his knowlege.

Glenn, I've been shooting a lot of both lately, and I would have to disagree with this a little. Goex Exp is faster than Swiss in three of my rifles that I where I have tried it and chronied it.

It's fouling is definitely softer (not sure if that means moister) but I cannot say that it is more accurate. Just faster velocities and softer fouling, grain for grain.

Tinker, mostly .45-90 and .38-72. I'm not convinced it is the most accurate stuff, but I have been chasing down issues at long range and I only get a few experiments per year, so it is tough to say. If I was shooting something where wiping between shots would not work, and esp, if using a long barrel, I would seriously consider Goex Exp over Swiss due to fouling issues. Otherwise, I think Swiss has the edge. Glenn's shooting being a case in point.

Tinker, I neglected to add that the velocities for the .45-90 with a 550 gr paper patched bullet run 1422 fps. I don't recall what they were for the .38-72-320.

FWIW, I'm loading Swiss in both right now for Raton. ETD, 8 days.

I have very limited experience on this subject, yet can add a bit of relative data I think. I have an Alex Henry double in .360bpe. Several very knowledgeable shooters with lots of experience with both BP and British doubles told me I would not get her to regulate with black. Well I am stubborn if nothing else and just had to see for myself. I was able to fit 60 grs of powder and a cardboard wad in my case if I used a drop tube. This load compressed aprox 3/16" shot very well indeed. To the point of the sights and very tight groups. I was working on a 1" group when I pulled the 4th shot on this target. In my limited experience, I think velocities close to originals can be obtained using Goex express. This is just 1 mans story mind you.

From what distance was that target shot with your 360?
From the looks of things, you have a regulation load there!
What's the bullet? You running jacketed, copper washed, hard cast, or paper patched?

Does the rifle have a charge/bullet prescription or did you go from 'standard' period load data?

Congrats on getting a real-for-real blackpowder load for the rifle!
