OP David Furman Sidelock Joined: May 2005 Posts: 482 exit 11, Vermont	Were A.H. Fox Safety buttons blued or case colored? I ask because i assumed they were blued...I'm rusting some small parts (triggers and some screws) and the safety button is not taking the blue at all after 4 coats, all the other parts are getting nicely black (only a couple more to go!) Would this indicate the safety button had been case-hardened, or was it finished another way? Thanks, Dave

And if I were just guessing, I'd have guessed they were blued. What practical reason for case hardening? I wouldn't think any one would be unique to a gun and it just seems logical that a safety button would fit in the small parts category with triggers and screws to be blued.
