You might have to revisit that. A quick check of Roy's Auction report for 2007 shows W&S M700, 12ga's, listed as Ex Cond. selling for $3600-$4800. Just in March a composed pair went for $8913.

Woodcock Hill has a 26" version listed for $5250, and I have seen two 28" here in NY in the last 6 months listed at $3950 & $4100.

Granted you can find one in lesser condition for less money but in VG to EX they're up there.

Rob, check the Cabela's website. (And remember that Cabela's frequently takes flak on this BB for their high prices.) There are two 700 12's listed at $3300 (with a ST) and $3100. I've seen the latter gun, which the Rogers MN store has had for some time now, and it's at least VG. Given that I've always found Cabela's open to reasonable offers, that one for sure would go home for under $3,000. Were I looking for a 700, I'd give that one very serious consideration. (I intentionally ignored the gun listed at $2700 because the description mentions a slight crack.)

I see your point but note the $3300 looks to have had the chokes opened to .003 &.010, not necessarily a bad thing on a 26" gun, but the LOP is only 14" with a large pad.

The $3100 also has a nicely installed leather pad, more choke to play around with.

The only Cabela's I asked, Hartford, CT. said all gun prices were firm, no bargaining. I guess it varies from store to store. They wouldn't taker an offer.

My problem lies in reconciling my gross habits with my net income.
