My son made an unbelievable shot on a black duck on his first hunt 40 years ago. I didn't bother getting up because it was beyond my range limit. He was using a hammer Parker 0 frame 16 gauge. Only many years later when I got a Parker letter did I learn it was bored cylinder right barrel. With today's wads and harder shot, I'm convinced that opening chokes is the way to go. I'm having a couple barrels done now.

In one of the patterning threads, it came up about some loads having a very dense center. I'm wondering if some of these extreme (for the choke) range successful kill accounts are a result of such phenomenae? Or is it the "golden bb" phenomenae?

I have seen some pretty sparse patterns from my cylinder bore gun at moderate distances. But also have seen the dense center on some loads as well.

I believe with modern loading and shot size and weight and speed you can do about anything you want with cylinder choke.Of course anything but fun 16yd on the trap range is a joke.

Stan called it right. I have C/Ts in my Perazzi. Thinking of ordering another lighter set of barrels, they will be .15/.25 or .15/.20 .

LM/LM

Leaves nothing to think about but focusing on the target (be it clay or feathered).

Always looking for small bore Francotte SxS shotguns.

This gun is F/M and I've shot skeet and SC pretty well with it in recent outings. It does crush 'em though. And no, I'm not even considering openning the chokes on it

Just for grins, yesterday, I took a Lefever "G" out back to my SC range, and decided to shoot until I missed. This gun is choked, I am pretty sure, full and full. I went thru a coffee can and a half of 1 oz 8's and quit.....never missed a rock, smoked most of em....VERY unusual for me...Maybe I should the "G" more often! Nice Fox, Chuckie!

Thanks everyone! Gun is currently choked .025 and .040. I plan to shoot it this season and then see where I go with it based on how it works out on white wings. Keep the suggestions coming!
