Jimmy W., Winchester did not market all of its Simmons ribbed guns without Simmons markings. Many of the Winchester marketed Model 42s had visible Simmons markings. Personally, unless I were building a Fox intended to deceive the next purchaser about its originality, I would not use a matting machine to adorn the rib. Early Lefevers with concave unmatted ribs are quite elegant. Many rib treatments are more attractive than machine matting, and probably less expensive.
