To further clarity here --
I will assume that you were talking about the rifle I posted images of which illustrated an example of *signifigant patina on extensive engraving*, and not the fences of the actual Belgian 'Richards' shotgun on auction which is the Original Poster's initial topic of conversation.
I assure you that that rifle was never a pinfire shotgun, and that I agree with you that the breeches on that rifle do not resemble 'pin fire breeches'.
For the sake of clarity, I removed the photos of that rifle so that no one will be distracted by it or confused on what we are here to discuss.
In my most recent post I carried two images from the auction site of the gun in question, which illustrate whatever it is.
I very much encourage anyone who wants that '
Richard' to get on the auction site and bid it up till it's theirs.
Tinker; just from experience. The breech fences are totally wrong for a pin-fire style gun. If it is a W.Richards of Liverpool his records would hold the answer. Lagopus.....
