I agree, far too much money even if it was pristine with original barrels and fitted motor case. Birmingham gun too, not knocking quality, Brum guns are fine by me but they just do not make the price. RW sleeving was so crude, in several cases I saw. I'm surprised they even let them out of the shop. I had an H&H sleeved by someone unknown and the only way you could tell was to take the barrels into bright sunlight and see the colour change. No ugly brass ring nor "sleeved" on the outside barrel surface for all to see. The "sleeved" was stamped ahead of the water table on the underside of the barrels.
Mr Weber, I clawed my way up to 4 1/2 muzzles on the old board, here I have no stars but Lowell Glenthorne does. How can this be? I am mortified.

My old Churchill was sleeved by Westley, I had to floss the barrels when after a day out. Shoddy jobs, they were.

Mike, hey at one time I had five stars - been going down hill ever after.
On the old board, Dear Mike, altho not seen, I had 10-12 barrels.
So there - be more mortified!

That one is over priced and over described. I had it in my hands and sent it back.

The one Monty Whitley has also has the adjustable hook. I'd have a hard time paying $3000 for it, though.

Four K is very high tag for that old fowler. W.C. Scott is an acquired taste like grog, birch beer,.... It looks like 2.5K gun to me.

2.5K is high for the sleeved Scott, but about right for the damascus gun. There are higher tier hammerguns to be had for a mite more.

Thanks, everyone for your input and advice. It seems a shame that a firm with as rich a name and history as Westley Richards would do such a job as they did sleev ing this gun. I saw a sleeved job done by Kirk Merrington in Kerrville, TX, and you couldn't tell where the join was without a glass.

I will look else where. I have Remington and LC Smith hammer guns, and I was looking for an upper quality hammer gun to shoot in the Vintager's events. Again, thanks for the help. Jim Haynes
P.S. I have a rather long neck, so I normally take more drop on my guns.
