Like Jimmy said ... are the barrels lost, or did you or can you retrieve them from the party in whose car they were mistakenly left?
Your personal first-hand experience is worth posting. As for vaguely suggesting an array of other problems that others may or may not have had with this gunsmith -- second-hand or third-hand or multiples thereof -- I have no respect for this. You're dealing with a man's livelihood. Apparently he was good enough for you to trust with this work despite whatever problems we're supposed to conjure up in our imaginations.

Shouldn't shoot steel through them anyhow. Just write them off, find another set to replace on your Parker wallhanger.

OK, barrels showed up in my hands finally, day 3 after being handed off by said gunsmith for a drive around the region. What a relief!
They are safely back in my safe, where they will stay until the next time I get them out for a trip to the range or field. Only tungsten matrix for these!
Well, this all has taken it out of me. I'm logging off and will be away for my first holiday of the summer. Thanks again for your observations and best to all.

So what do you think of the job he did on the rust blueing, now that the guy's reputation has been through the mud?

The under-rib, particularly back towards the flats, are well... rather pink. I guess I would use the term "craftsman" advisidly.

That's okay all he has to do is show a picture of that Model 21 he owns; his reputation will be as good as ever!!! To bad I don't need barrel work they would be in the mail to him as soon as possible. Matter of fact any time I need barrels done I'm going to make it a point to send them to him!!!
