Great article Destry! However, for the umteenth time the printers severely screwed up the color separation on many of this issue's photos! The Cote's should change to the printers that do Precision Shooting and Accurate Rifle. They do wonderful color work. Also, the Cote's editing introduced a grievous error into the BE-Grade Remington article.

I think the four color seperation process you mention is a past technique. Also, PS and AR have but one color page. Could be done on a sheet fed and then saddlestiched to a web generated B&W body.
Your thumbs down icon was cleverly placed, but tacky in its intent. Obviously an ax to grind. Dave, I think you brought up a rant like this several times in the past and also on your own "Sterlingworth" DGJ article. I for one applaud "the Cote's" for their years of success with DGJ, a magazine I thoroughly enjoy and look forward too. I guess I don't find it as painful to read and view as a couple of you do. In fact, I don't give a rats azz if there is an "editing misque" or an image not up to Accurate Rifle standards. DGJ is an outstanding international magazine without equal, warts and all. We are blessed to have it available for our enjoyment and education. Randy

I don't "have an axe to grind." I dearly love The Double Gun Journal, but there are some areas that could use improvement. I don't have any idea what color process they use, I'm only talking results. Lord knows that my photography is nothing to write home about. But, those printers have consistantly screwed up good stuff by the likes of Bill Headrick and Terry Allen. The absolute worst is what they did to Terry Allen's work in one of Tom Archer's L.C. Smith articles.

I thouroughly enjoy the high quality articles that appear constantly in DGJ. I would like to see a little less hunting and a little more double guns. There are loads of good hunting magazines out there for those who like to read of others adventures. Sporting Classics Magazine deteriorated in my estimation in much the same way and Shooting Sportsman is going that way as well.
As my old friend Havilah Babcock said: "I DON'T WANT TO SHOOT AN ELEPHANT".

George, You can have a piece of the pie, just not all of it. Last issue, Summer 2008 had 13 featured articles, ONLY 2 were hunting based? Destry and Ross's. And the hunting articles are with special or interesting double/single shot guns and so highlighted. Personally, my interest tips to the doublegun hunting. We all have our passions or niche's in this doublegun world, and that's a good thing. Randy

George I agree...I can read about someones hunting exploits somewhere else. I also agree about Sporting Classics it has taken a nose dive since Art Carter died...it's turned into one big a Bushnell advertisement.

I haven't seen the summer issue. The closest newstand carrying it is 140 miles away. A good magazine could be made a great one with better editing. I'm looking forward to Destry's article. He knows how to write, to tell a story. .
