I forgot to mention that Briley has chakes for Lead Only and for Steel shot. If you order a Modified choke that is hardened for Steel shot it will be of less constriction than one that is Lead Only. That's another reason I order Briley chokes by the diameter I desire.
Briley will however mark the choke as you desire. Modified for 12 GA to me is .020 constriction from the bore. I'd never shoot steel shot in anything tighter than that. I want my steel shot chokes marked the same as those that are Lead Only, i.e. .020 is Mod, rather it is Lead Only or Steel shot capable. Just tell Briley when ordering and they'll mark as desired.
Another good deal from Briley... I received a set of extended Steel shot chokes for a Model 23 Winchester. The last part of the knurling on those extended chokes would rub each other when screwed into the barrels. I called Briley and returned them as instructed. Briley removed the last 1/2" of knurling and REPLATED (black oxide or something like that...) the chokes and returned them to me ASAP. No charge of course. Brileys are a bit expensive but I've never had an unaddressed complaint about them.
