I know the Vandalia area well Jimmy- I'm from Cinci- but never was a huge Bengals fan- now the Reds- back in the great Marge Schott and "Charlie Hustler" daxe- that's a 'whole nother ball game, ain't it"> Sure agree with you on the M12 and clays- read the Dave Petzal tribute to that aspect of the great "Perfect Repeater" in May-June 1985 issue of SC-all Americans that served prior to the M-16 snafu know what a heavy rifle (M-1 Garand, M-14_)is like- the real guys who hunt heavy cover in high Nov. winds in SD or MT for pheasant and mallards- that's M12 and M21 territory- Now those that hunt manicured stocked hunting preserves with guides and "by the numbers trained" pointing "dawgs" might enjoy a 6 & 1/2 lb. London Best or other top-grade side by- weight and balance are individual matters- I recently sold an 1919 era 12 ga. Trojan 30" No. 2 frame- replaced it with a 1928 era (sn 225318) 12 ga. VH 30" barrels but No. 1 & 1/2" frame- and the balance is still about at the hinge pin, but the VH feels like a 20 bore in my fists-(and I just weighed it on USPS scales- 7 lbs. right on the dime-I am guessing the Trojan weighted closer to 7 &3/4 lbs.compared to the heavier Trojan- let alone my "beater" HE Fox 12--I'd like to attend one of the SC shoots and shoot that VH- if the lack of ejectors isn't a handicap (I reload AA 12's) but I would also like to compete "head to head" using one of my prized M12's--Charlie Waterman once wrote "Never shoot against a man with his well-worn pumpgun- it didn't get worn by sitting in a gun case all year"!!
