Jimmy, you may be from good SHOOTING country (as in trap), but I'd submit that Iowa--where I live--is far more serious UPLAND HUNTING country. And when you're going to walk a few miles to shoot pheasants, that's just a tad bit different than pulling the trap gun out of the trunk and strolling from one station to the next while breaking clay birds. In the latter case, gun weight doesn't really matter. In the former case, it very definitely does matter. Start out at 8 in the morning with an 8 pound gun and you'll wish it were a 6 1/2 pound gun come 3 pm.
Jim referred to what appeals to him. My reference was to a GL being a bargain GIVEN MARKET PRICES at $3K. Irrelevant whether I like it, Jim likes it, or Roger likes it. Just like a Model 21 at $5K if most are selling at $6K, it's a bargain--to someone who wants either a GL or a 21. If someone asks my opinion on whether X is a good price for Y gun, I'll respond that it either is or isn't, depending on the market--not depending on whether I think gun Y is worth price X. That determination would be my opinion, which probably isn't the questioner's opinion since he's researching prices on gun Y. Different discussion entirely if the question is, "What sxs would you suggest in the $3K range?"
