Choke tubes in general seem to build up plastic fouling. especially at the entrance area. Fixed chokes do not do this, IME. Michael Orlen will do a good job for you, quickly and for a very reasonable price. I just had him do the work on a Super X1 trap gun. Good job, quick turnaround. I'm in agreement with Chuck that they are not likely custom made for your exact bore I.D., unless you have bore ID's off the charts.

Joe, Briley encloses a card with the bore dimensions of the left and right barrel. To reorder is simple if you keep the card with the gun. The second hand market is always a challenge since the card seems to be absent most of the time. Best, Ron

Will- I'll be in San Antonio late this Fall- to hunt 'yotes and feral pigs with a friend- we will fly to Houston, always wanted to see the NASA program, and will visit Brileys- didn't know they dealt in used shotguns- What do you know about Collectors Firearms there-? !WTF

As Mr. Legg noted there is always that palstic deposit at the entrance to the choke since NOBODY makes a seamless screw-in. Be prepared to clean on a regular basis or suffer some degradation of the pattern quality. Screw-ins are a complex topic and there are actually many considerations that are usually just blown past. In former times I was quite taken with the idea of twirling chokes as the whim dictated. AS time went by I found that my needs were easily answered by the ones in the gun. And it gave me an obvious excuse to buy more guns. I highly recommend that approach.

I'm sure they do send you a card but those thin wall screw in choke tubes are not custom made for your particular bore size.....12 is a 12...20 is a 20 etc..

Au contraire Br'er joe. Briley makes custom sized choke tubes. So if you send in a German twelve with .711 bores they make a custom choke that fits that .711 bore. If you want another choke tube you have to send them the bore diameter.
Best,
Mike

Yep they will make them for your bore size. Many say 20th's is mod for all 12ga it works for gun at .729 but not a twelve bore at .740. Its all simple to work out and Briley does a good job of it.If bore size made no difference then 20th would be mod for the 12 as well as the 28 or the 8ga.

Joe, I may have missed the question. The only thing I am sure of is when Briley makes a choke, it is in relation to the barrel bore. The berettas I have are .725/.726. The chokes are based on a .725 bore as a compromise. When I once requested chokes for a right barrel and a left barrel be exact they did so and marked the chokes for the barrel they were built for. Give Briley a call and talk to a Gary Springer. The gent knows his stuff and he may help with a better explanation. Best, Ron

I just find it odd that Briley will go to the trouble to build a custom choke to match the internals of your bore when they can't build a set of full length tubes to match the chambers in a gun.
Example I had a 3 & 1/2" 10 ga. that I had a set of full length tubes made for...the chambers on the tubes were made for a short chambered 10 ga. after they were made I questioned them about it I was more as less told take it or leave it. I've talked with them more than once about building a set of 20 ga. tubes for a 2 & 1/2" chambered 12....they refuse to do it without lengthening the chambers on my gun.....Taking it out of proof.
I guess they figure they can make more money selling custom fitted choke tubes...that are probably made in China.
