I have some for you. I received your e-mail, but have been very busy. Sorry for not replying. I'll send you some info this weekend. The loads I have are from Tom's book. I talked to him a few weeks ago. He is a nice guy and very knowledgeable about these big guns. He gave me some great info.

I make 8 bore rounds for my Lang using the Remington Industrial cases. (There are 3 types and it is important to identify them as all give different ballistics). I use either Blue Dot or Vectan A0 powders and either felt or plastic Remington 8 bore wads. I would be happy to share information. A book to look out for is 8 Bore Ammunition by Douglas McDougall ISBN 0 9506710 3 7 This one is in hardback and is a reprint of the two original papercack volumes. Very useful as all loads recommended were submitted through the British Proof House for pressure testing. it might not be easy to locate copies but the effort may well be worth it. Lagopus.....

8 bore....your right. Its a Lefever. What else for me? Its a F grade in what I would call very good condition. It has very pretty tiger stiped wood.
Ive got rem plastic cases and ive got a way to swedge the base down. But I dont want to use black powder as ifs ver are on plastic cases.

Bob, although most of these guys don't mention them, I will assume from experience that faster powders than Blue Dot can be used to assemble 1 1/4 ounce loads for game bird and clay target shooting. Think Unique in the same powder weight that is used in 12 gauge loads or slightly heavier in 1 1/4 ounce loads as long as the pressure can be kept up to the point where ignition is good and the sound is acceptable. Blue Dot in 1 1/4 ounce loads will give very low pressures in the eight gauge. Blue Dot is for heavy shot weights in loads for wildfowl. Bill Murphy

Use the clear Winchester cases if you can find them, they're 100 times better than any of the Reminton ones and much easier to re-size.
Don't use that McDougall book, some of the loads are wayyyyy too hot.
