I have been away from my computer for the past two months, don't recall my secret password to access on the fly, but now I'm home I can rely on cookies to get me in...

Anyway, I thank all you advance-orderers ("Patrons," you know who you are) of the Special 500 Limited Edition of my new book, Parker Guns: Shooting Flying and the American Experience (Collector Books 2008). The latest info I have from my publisher in Paducah KY is that the printer in TN will ship on August 22nd; it will take me some time to receive the 500 Special Limited Edition copies here on the IL/WI stateline and sign them and mail, etc. "Around Labor Day" is still a good date to expect pre-publication orders delivered by Priority Mail.

My answering machine at 815-248-2459 filled up while I was putzing around the Arctic Circle in my motor home, and I may have missed some calls. Any ???'s try me again by phone or at:

I plan to be at the Vintage Cup in MD the end of September with books--$100 Signed Ltd Editions only--as my publisher is selling the trade edition through the usual gun show dealers, on the internet, and thru the big box stores. Orders for the Signed Limited Edition can be sent to Old Reliable Publishing Box 4 Davis IL 61019 and should include $7.50 S&H ($107.50). I notice that the $49.95 trade edition is already on Amazon.com and various other retail websites, and is even being sold in Australia.

My first book, Parker Guns: The "Old Reliable" (Safari Press 1997, 2004) has sold over 8,000 copies. The new book, Parker Guns: Shooting Flying, is 40 pages more than The "Old Reliable"(368 vrs 328), full color, 122,000 words of text plus 18,500 words of captions to 550 pictures, over 300 of which are in color.

Vic Venters, senior editor of SSM peer reviewed and wrote the Introduction; other peer reviewers are Mike Carrick, Q&A editor of The Gun Report; Charlie Price, co-author of The Parker Story; Ludo Wurfbain, owner/publisher of Sports Afield magazine and Safari Press; Austin Hogan, editor/publisher of Parker Pages; Kevin McCormack, Dave "researcher" Noreen, Destry Hoffard, and Roger Giles.

Time will tell whether anybody reads shotgun books anymore.
