Jack, with the girlie shells I shoot in the Western Arms gun it might have less recoil than my five-ish pound .410.

Hey, are you calling my gun ugly?

I can't make it worse than it already looks. I am considering getting another stock to butcher so I don't affect the collector value by altering the original one.

Chuck, I had not considered side panels but that would be a good idea if I can make them look like they fit. The sides keep the same width as the receiver past the back of the toplever. Side panels would allow that line to remain but the step down would make the transition to the smaller size a little better. I will look at some panel layout. My only concern is the downward angle on the rear of the receiver. If that is extended the panels might look disproportionately small. I'll just need to have a look. Thanks for the idea.

Heaven forbid! Nor would I call my neighbor's +200lb. wife ugly - but I hope he never puts a bikini on her! Some shapes and sizes are not meant for "slender"...
