Certainly that would be one first-class answer. However, if the butt is as nice as I'd guess, a reverse butt transplant could save it without trying to glue all the splinters. Of course the sidelock inletting labor will keep even DT busy for a while, but a good piece of walnut the size needed for the head could well come from a leftover from one of many stocking jobs, saving lots of $$ for a top-grade blank.
