Thought it was about time to bring this one back. Any one know anything about this maker?

I have an E Thomas Jr(Chicago) which has "J SIMON" on the bar
on the action flats between the barrell lump slots. Gun has
similiar scroll engraving as the Boxlock pictured.

James Donn (Peoria)hammergun-pictured posted recently has
"W F K" on the action flat bar. GUNSMITHS OF ILLINOIS has
in it's Donn write-up that a Scotish Gunmaker named Walter
Kinnser worked with Donn.

On a Nichols& Lefever seen :"A A" is on the action flat bar

Could these be the initials of the primary maker of the gun?

Bill, on the Nichols and Lefever, could the AA be the grade. You could tell by the great engraving if it was. I never had the feeling that there was a "primary maker" related to Nichols and Lefever. Have you seen guns that would seem otherwise. Now, a conversion could have a primary maker, I guess, but most conversion receivers are from the one who did the conversion.

The Nichol and Lefever is marked C -This is on the left side of
the action flats and the engraving is typical of a C grade.
The A A is on the bad between the lug slots.

Let me clarify my thoughts. These initials or names on the action
bar might be from the person at the company who was the primary
employee in the making of the gun.
J Simon-employee of Thomas
W F K -Walter Kinnser- emloyee of James Donn
Just a thought-will look at my other guns for more info.

I have a few pictures of this gun in my Simon file but don’t have the owner’s contact information. My notes says it’s marked J.J. Simon Chicago but does not say where. Hopefully the owner will see this and respond. My Simon file also has another hammerless marked A&D with a number but no other info.

Can you enlarge your picture to see if anything is written
on the fore-lock-there is a ribbon there. On some Thomas
gun. E Thomas Jr is there? Many features of a Thomas-
other pictures of the gun?

I’ve tried everything to try to read the writing on the side with no luck. It may not be marked Thomas because I did not put it in the Thomas file. Not much to go on but it’s all I have. It does have a skeleton butt like many of the Thomas guns.

Here is a Thomas gun with his name in a banner, not sure you can read it on this picture.

It looks to have the Fred Abbey Pat. rib extension third bite
as most Thomas guns. ? forearn release type?
