Hey guys.......I'm doin' great. I still feel like I'm on vacation even though I'm working full time. It has been busy doing a little remodeling, getting the practice up to full speed, looking for a house (much better for dogs than a condo!) and generally getting settled in. Full time here is significantly less than I was working on staff at a level one trauma center. I love it....every other weekend is a four day holiday for me.

Just bought a starter Orvis 9wt flyrod outfit second hand from a guy over at Upland Journal and I'm just starting the hunt for the O'io or bonefish on the fly. We are going out to some flats this afternoon to try again. These guys are difficult to see! I found what I think may be the only fly shop in Hawaii, "Nervous Water Flyshop", and they've been very helpful in fly selection, places to go and, of course, selling me the finest of saltwater gear. My friend and classmate who lives here and is also a flyfisherman has proposed the short trip to Christmas Island, the bonefish mecca, after the New Year! I've been a flyfisherman for almost 50 years but this is my first saltwater experience.....good stuff.

My guns and dogs are still with my son on the mainland and I miss them but they will be coming over this coming year. I'm looking forward to chasing some of these fat Hawaiian pheasants with Chasseur and Hawaiian Uplands next year. We are supposed to get a new interisland ferry soon and that will make it easier to pack up and go for an upland adventure on one of the neighbor islands. I still have several gun projects going on the mainland that should be finished this coming year....my Purdey is still for sale by Lewis Drake, my Sterlingworth upgrade is still at the engraver and my Jeffrey rook rifle reline to .22 Hornet and upgrade is almost done.

This sounds like one of those holiday lettters I start getting about this time of the year doesn't it?

Randy...hang in there, brother! Chasseur, I'll talk to you soon. Best to all.

Aloha,

Bob
