yes....depends on a lot of things, but vintage really comes into play. Look at London best guns from 1880 to 1895...after that the stocked to the fences thing was much more standard. Before that, not so much. Someone will be along shortly to disagree. Steve

Agree with SKB. It depends, but . . . the year the gun was made can be a good indicator. By the late 1890s is seems the "stocked to the fences" feature had been firmly established. I'm sure there are exceptions. Offhand I can't think of a modern SxS best SLE that is not stocked to the fences.

JOe, as the name implies, the stock/wood reaches the fences/balls.
In some doubles it does not; there is some metal in between. I'll look for photos.
