I agree a M23 would be a good choice for someone looking for a well made shooter. Better value, at least in 20ga.
I bought my 28 Repro around 1994, I think from Safari Outfitter's or some such name. I still have the flyer somewhere. I called the guy (this was before the internet after all)and said I wanted a 28 w/a beavertail and double triggers and he said they had a couple - I told him to pick the one with the best wood and send it to me. I decided against a double set because it was a lot more money - $1995 vs. $2695. Of course now I wish I had bought it but $700 was a chunk of change at the time. In any case, the gun showed up NIB and I'm pleased that I still have only seen one other Repro with wood as nice.
I haven't fired it in years but back then I put a few boxes of the infamous '1oz., Max charge' loads through it. Back then, I didn't know how poor those loads are, and neither did the birds because they fell dead on impact.
