Shot on a friend of my Father's farm this afternoon, tons of birds around but blistering hot. Had my 90 year old Grandfather with us shooting his little JC Higgins 20 gauge double. We found a shady spot and I just sat with Grandpa and visited for the most part. He tried a few shots and picked up a couple birds so that was good enough for us.
I think I shot 7 times and killed two doves and two barn pigeons. Made one super long shot on one of the pigeons so that made me happy enough with my shooting for the day.
The rest of the group popped away with their automatics and managed limits all around for the most part. Dad shot at the other end of the field and killed 8 or 10 with his ever present pump though he visited with his friends more than he shot I think.
We helped clean birds and then headed for a bite of dinner with Grandpa in town. A good day all around, glad I was able to make it home.
Ed Muderlak just rolled into town a couple hours ago. We're going to run down to Paducah in the morning and pick up the limited edition copies of the new book then I'm headed back to Michigan on Wednesday and in Canada Thursday for the opening of goose season.
