Mr. T,

That's a pretty impressive repair job. Surely you and Barry will parcel out more details to us mere mortals!

Is this the same trigger guard you sent me a photo of to demonstrate BLH's skill at lifting the engraving?

CrossedChisels, thank you for the invitation, and if I do visit Maine I most certaily will seak you out.

No question that is an absolutely fantastic job, I guess the chap wanted to keep originality or didn't have insurance...

If it had been me, for the extra involved, I would have asked you to re-stock the gun in a piece of gorgeous new piece of exhibition grade Turkish / French built to my dimensions with an all wood stock - but thats me - unfortunately a repair like that would niggle away at me worrying about what the future may be for it...

I know my concerns would be unfounded, but unfortunatley thats the way my brain works.

Coming back to original integrity what is worse - a heavily repaired stock that is no longer original (and can be identified when the lockwork is removed), or a new full length (original spec i.e. not cut down etc) stock. I know where I would spend my money.

Please this is in absolutely no way detracting from CrossedChisles workmanship which is beyond reproach.

Jonty, Thanks for the compliment about the little Boss 28b.The repair situation came about after the gun arrived and I sat at my bench with a'Heineken' at hand and thought this is about as bad as 'IT can get.As I Disassembled each part of the action and 'bits of stock either fell out/off I saw 'Restock Me'.When I spoke with the Client, He left the decision entirely in my 'Hands'. If I rebuilt the original stock and I felt satisfied that it was'As I say Strong as a Brick Out-House' and It passed all of my Flex-Test in my Setting Jig, with the Bbl/action held firmly in the 'Head-Lock' I flex the stock 1/2" in all 4 directions, several times, then repeat the test several more times. As all was well, I shot aprox 175 rounds of 1 oz loads( over a 2 day period)The Client is aware of my offer that if any time in the 'near future' there is a 'Melt-Down'I will restock the little bugger and come in under the $15,000.oo London price!!
