That is probably the worse thing to do. First you are putting a lot of stress on the top lever and also have a real good chance of making that hole (4-40 screw) oblong or flattening the threads. Hunter Arms employees used a 3/32 straight punch with a old flat bladed screw driver with a notch in it to push against the punch.
The best way is the way the late Russ Ruppel described using a c clamp with a 3/32 pin secured in the top hole.
I believe the one on the site is a copy I made. Easy to do and leaves hands free to snug screws up.
