I see the name came up on another thread so I thought I'd share what I have.I'll start with a few pics and go from there. Paul Driscoll.
The group pic is of the 1948 Labor Day shoot at Pine Tree Rifle Club in Johnstown NY. Wilbur is in the top row with his personal serial #1. across his lap. He was a lefty. Col. T Whelen is in front of Wilbur, and H. Donaldson is upper right.

Unless it's an optical illusion, the Mannlicher stocked rifle seems to have a shorter receiver than the one in the circular. Were there two types of Hauck action?

There was enough area in a standard action to sculpt or shape . Most of the varmit or bench guns were uncut. It is more commomly seen on sporting rifles but was left to the customer.
Internally there were three different Hauck designs however they were centered around the lever.

Monty Whitley had a Hauck or two several months ago. Don't know if they were sold or sent back to a consignor. I've always been willing to take one home if it was not in a "vermin" caliber, but we don't see many big bores in the Hauck action.

I've only seen two with a push button safety for hunting. So in the field the gun would have to be carried with the lever popped open. I own a 300H&H litterly unfired. It has a half round -half octagon barrel. But it to has no safety and double set triggers. I'll post some pics of the big bore Haucks that I have or have had. Including a 45-70 single trigger and a 375 H&H

Any idea how many Haucks were made? I did see one barreled action w/DSTs at a small Fire Hall gun show earlier this year but wasn't fast enough to get it or even get a good look at it. Would have made a nice project I thought. Looked like a 30cal or perhaps slightly larger w/round barrel. The buyer clung to it and covered it slightly with his jacket as he almost snuck away from the sellers table. First time I ever saw a purchase of a parts gun treated as a covert operation. The seller didn't know much about it when I asked.

It is hard to know without a doubt how many were made. Wilbur ran groups of 25 receivers at a time. I have seen #135 and my #124 was made Jan. 5, 1964. I own all of his number and proof stamps.
Here is a pic of serial # 10
These 4 guns came out of Or. and were sold as actions only. the bottom gun was done by Roy Gradle in .22 Saunders Krag. I had it rebarreled to 30-40 Krag for deer.
