It could be interesting to disassemble the two locks for a direct comparison of the plate, springs and parts. I'm sure you remember how much I enjoyed the Golcher locks!

Steve, on page 1 I put the Golcher and Overbaugh locks together. Peas in a pod. I wonder if the locks of the 16 bore mentioned above are downsized. Yes, we can get the markings together sometime. Maybe when I cash in on my silent auction winning of dinner from where they sell the "Hamburger from Paradise" over your way.

The Thomas Golcher ten gauge lockplates are 4 1/2" long and 1 3/32" high. The sixteen gauge locks are 4 1/4" long and 15/16" high. The rear of the receivers are 1 5/8" and 1 1/2" wide.

8bore, thanks for the measurements, I guess I'm more curious about the internal parts. With a disassembled lock it would be easy to compare the bridle, sear, spring sizes, screw hole locations. etc., I can dream, eh?
Daryl, that would be 'Cheese Burger in Paradise' at the Stockman, I'm ready when you are!
Supposed to rain this weekend, & what with bird season, I doubt if we'll be shooting at Tim's?

Eightbore, thanks for the measurements. The 12 bore locks seem to be the same at 4.52" long and 1.04" high. Measurement at the receiver rear is 1.50".

The rear receiver width of the twelve sounds like it is the same as the ten. That's not hard to believe since my ten, although a big gun, has a very trim receiver. There is another ten close to here that I will measure if I get a chance. Steven, you can see my sixteen gauge locks any time you agree to refinish the wood for me. It is solid, but dark with smooth checkering and a bit of a nick out of the forend. It needs a thin shim in the hook and there are barrel issues, but overall, it is an easy restoration. I don't normally do anything to my Lindners, but this one needs a little attention. By the way, where are John Mann's Golcher's? Were they among the guns he disposed of a short time ago? Murphy

No, they are nearly identical with no more than 40% coverage of small scroll.
