Battle;Early Lefevers had the sears with their springs mounted on the sideplates. To the best of my knowledge none were ever full sidelocks as all had the hammers & mainsprings mounted in the frame. Also I believe that all H & DS/I grades were of the type having frame mounted sears as well as the large single cocking hook. If anyone has knowledge of one otherwise would love to hear about it.

my comment regarding Lefevers as the rarest of American doubles was in regard to the well known American makers. No doubt that other smaller manufacturers are more rare. Baker high grades are among some of the finest you will see.

I own one of the early Baker guns and it is true, they were beautifully fitted & polished inside.
