I don't consider proud wood to be poor wood to metal fit. I can see where someone might not like it but thats more a matter of taste, not poor quality.

Proud wood doesn't bother me either. However, I wouldn't call the mate of the stock head to the cove in the action shoulder on the one Steve Barnett had last yr. at Pintail Pt satisfactory at a 2.5-3K price. There appeared to be an unfairness in the curve on the metal and I'll be darned if the stock head followed it. Oddly, I could detect this same defect in some early guns pictured internet. Appears that this glitch was perpetuated by the templating or control code for metal and wood machining.

Of course proud wood is poor fit. The very definition of fit is, well, fit.
Would you consider size 40 pants on a man with a 32 waist poor fit? Or how about Rosie O'Donnel in a Size 0 mini dress? Now that is a poor fit.

Totally disagree. Check the syntax that MacTravalltosh use in Shotgun Technicana. Stock and forends are mated or "fit up" when all faying surfaces abutt tightly and uniformly, all inletting sunk. Still a rectangular block of wood fore and aft. Flush wood is a refinement but not a matter of "fitting" imo.

If you can live with plainer wood of decent quality for 2k or little more one can get a Turkish "Smith & Wesson" 20br.

I went with another BSS 20g that cost me about a third of what I had ordered with the RBL. Granted, it's no where near as fancy as the RBL I may have gotten. But then, I have a few thousand dollars to bring it up to that if I chose. Frankly, I like some things about the BSS better and some things about the RBL better.

I took delivery of my RBL 20 after a very long wait and a trip back to CSMC to fix a stock crack problem. Customer service was top notch and I'm glad I bought the gun. The prepaid price and careful selection of the options make mine a real bargain that I couldn't duplicate from any other maker in a 20. I have a couple of BSS 20's and like them a lot, but they never existed in the configuration that I ordered on my RBL. After I got the RBL, I bought another Miroku-labeled 20 gauge SxS, and it is at least the mechanical equal of the RBL, but I had no choice on configuration. The RBL is still a bargain if you buy smart.

After I receieved my RBL 28, I called and ordered a 20. The one I got was nice but I iddnt like the grain layout towards the heel, thought it was prone to chip. So I asked if I could retunr and choose somethign else. They said no problem. I did and got a very nicely done 20 with English Walnut. And 2 fore ends. I ordered the first with both and they took them back full credit. I got both on the second one also. BTFE for clays and hopefully that Argie trip and Splinter for field use.
I have been very satisfied with both of my RBL's. fit, finish, service and performance. Customer services by CSM was second to none.
