while not a problem in TX and since i don't hunt much anyway it's moot but that's my next experiment with it. i've got an old weaver side mount base that's a perfect fit and plan to mount a 1x scope on it and run some slugs thru just to see what happens.
it's all an experiment; just to do something i've not done before. got a buddy w/ one of the lee slug molds that throws slugs for loading into plastic wads just like regular shot loads. may be fun. would probably be a good hog gun for TX.
Jim, i've got an uncle, a cousin (his son) and a shooting buddy who are all left handed and have made do with r/h guns including b/a's for so long they don't feel comfortable with a true left handed gun. told the buddy i could reverse the safety on a model 11 so it'd work l/h and he said he'd rather leave it since he's used them the other way so long it'd mess him up.

Know what you are saying about shooting something like that and doing well with it.
Many many years ago I used a Winchester 1400 to shoot trap. One day I ran a 97 out of 100. As I got more money I had a custom built Bernardelli o/u, it was their highest grade ever. (Still have it) It was built to my specs by Ciso Bernardelli, I have now had 2 Perazzis custom built for me, one I visted the factory and had done. Never hit the 97 out of 100 again!
Stay Well
John
PS My firt shotgun was a Kessler bolt action. I walked into a gun shop and bought it. I think I was about 14. Back then i do not think you had to be any age. I know the dealer did not even have to keep records then. Later I went to work for him, my first job with guns. I was 16.

fnb25: I coped with all sorts of right hand objects in my left hand world including guns until about twenty years ago when I bought my two principle big game rifles which are LH bolt action Ruger 77s. I had the mag. release changed to left hand on my carry pistol which is a Beretta 96. Other then that, I pretty much use guns as they are, and I've adapted to the point where I don't really think about it any more. BTW There's one revolver that's actually easier to manipulate by a lefty the way it came from the factory and that's the Colt SAA. If anyone reading this has one pick it up in your left hand and notice how easy it is to operate the loading gate etc. Jim

I had an uncle who could have afforded any gun he wanted, but he used a Mossberg B Aand he was a lefty.. Shot thousands of rabbits and grouse.. He used that gun for 40 years that I knew of. It was the only gun he owned, other than Grand Dads 1889 Rem.. MDC

If anyone reading this has one pick it up in your left hand and notice how easy it is to operate the loading gate etc. Guess What! The Colt SA"A" (Army) was originally designed for the Cavalary. A right handed trooper would be holding the gun in his right hand, the reins in his left. Upon emptying the gun he simply laid it over into his left hand & reloaded with his right, thus it was designed to be both fired & reloaded by the right hand. In loading thusly, he did not hold the SAA by the grip but thumbed the hammer back to the loading notch (Half Cock) & flipped open the loading gate as he laid the frame Atop the reins in his left hand. Once loaded he grabbed it by the grip with his right hand & was ready to commence firing. A seasoned trooper could do this at full gallop & retain complete control of his horse by the simple act of "Neck Reining". One should not confuse modern usage with original intention.

Good point 2-piper. But as a lefty the SAA works for me. Try doing any of the above with the later crane/cylinder revolvers designed by Willian Mason. Jim

I used to rely on 20 Mossberg 185k? bolt gun with 2 shot clip. Those were simpler more happyly spent days for me. The guy who started Walmart used Remi 1100.

Hello roger and thanks for the memories; my first shotgun was a bolt action Mossberg with Polychoke my father bought for me second hand in the whereabouts of Orange, TX (of all places) in 1966.
Being young and foolish (more than today) I lent it and never got it back. I would like to have it now to shoot slugs with.
