Joe:

In the FWIW department, I was able to acquire a 1963 20 gauge Pigeon Grade Superposed RKLT with 28" barrels that had the stock refinished with a nice oil finish, a Pachmyar recoil pad fitted, the chokes opened to Skeet and I/C and properly marked and the engraved pigeons on each side replaced with raised white and yellow gold inlays. In spite of the expenditure, which had to have been more than a couple of bucks, I got the gun for the price of a high condition Grade I. I'd guess the work cost the owner about $1,000 in resale value. On the bright side, I'd never have bought the gun at a full pigeon grade price. But I wasn't selling after having the work done either. If it makes your wife happy, do it and let the resale chips fall where they may, but make sure she understands that it will likely reduce the resale value of the gun if she ever decides to sell it.

By the way, congratulations on having a wife who shares your shooting interests.
