The CNC process appears to be applicable to the manufacture of anything from micro-machines to parts for a steam locomotive. This site abounds with beautiful digital photographs of classic stocks. At a very basic level, the pixels that make up those beautiful photos are no different than the measurement data used to develop the commands that control CNC machinery. We can produce 3-d models of the surface of Mars from digital data. It should be well within our technological capabilities to devise a method for reproducing a classic stock without marring or even touching the original.
