I just purchased a CE grade 1894 that has ordinance steel barrels that are clean with no pitting. The action has nice C grade engraving, but no case coloring left. The gun has a straight grip and retains its original butt plate. Additionally, the gun has a single trigger. But, the gun has a few issues….. The rib is loose and needs to be stripped and relayed. The checkering is all there, but well worn and needs refreshing. Finally, some past owner pushed their initials into the butt stock with a blunt tool (not cut) on either side of the stock near the action. I hope this can be steamed partially out….
I have $400 in this firearm. Is it worth fixing/restoring?
Thanks,
Daniel
