8 1/2# for grouse? Not where I hunt them. Too much one-handed carrying involved while crashing the brush. There are plenty of people that hunt open country birds (pheasants, huns, prairie grouse etc) with guns that heavy (although I am not one of them), but there's a reason most people go a good bit lighter for grouse.
