I agree, there are two types of drillings, the lighter, longer barreled ones priamrily for birds and the shorter, heavier ones, primarily for big game.

Mine is of the former, no scope, 16X16 over 8x57, swings fine and carries well. I haven't weighed it but I doubt it's over 7#'s.

But I still can't hit grouse.

Mine has an even harder safety but I got used to it.
