Steve , Good post on staining . Im currently playing with Mohawk stain just because the have a retailer near my house. It is good quality stain, though their color charts arent very accurate.

I bought some mohawk "ox-blood", its a grape/purble color,Wow. Got a sample of the "Red" on a piece of my englsih walnut scrap-Their "red" is orange. Id have to try and mix something to try and get a usable stain for gunstocks

I then bought some Laurel Mtn "cherry" stain to see what it look like. Seems like a Reddish burnt sienna color and might work. I Tryed it today on a couple scarps english walnut, One a dark piece the other a pretty blond piece with good mineral steaks. In about 4 hours ill put some Dalys on them to see how it looks

I cant get your pictures to show on your post SDH. Either here or Accurate Reloading, What picture site are you useing? My PC is old window 98
