I'll have you all know that a certain Lady of my acquaintance, the mother of one of my chums and a product of much-vaunted (Tidewater, don't you know!) Newport News, VA, no less, once most emphatically informed me that the proper term was "you all", and that "yawl" was merely one type of small sailboat. Of course She also insisted that "ain't" couldn't possibly be a real word because it wasn't in the dictionary, but since that's no longer true I continue to say "y'all" and "all y'all" and even "you all" when feeling especially formal. I never, however, would be caught dead saying "all you all"; enough is entirely too much of some things (BG).
