Yes, the steel shot tube should work fine on the Grabber, and make this a fairly easy reload.
If you're talking about Deep River--you should try to make it--generally they have a dozen or more shooters for the ZZ shoots, and it's a fun time. ZZ's are so unpredictable that everyone has a reasonable good chance to either excell or embarrass themselves. Either way a lot of fun. Keith

DS - No, I haven't taken it for ZZ - yet. Keith is the ZZ man. Most of my shooting is at the Charlotte Rifle and Pistol Club near Waxhaw. Do you shoot at Deep River?
I load with a P-W 800 and know the amount to back off of the wad seating ram (P-W does not drop shot at the wad seating station). JL, can you fit a steel drop tube into a Grabber per Keith's suggestion? I have a Grabber, but it is set up for 2 1/2" and I don't load 2 1/2" spreaders, so I don't know.

ZZ Flyer, I had similar results with the polywad, depending on the load and the yardage... so the rule is true, pattern any load especially when you are experimenting with spreders.
When the polywad works withou a hole in the center, it does give a much more open effect than the X spreaders. Full choke to about IC, the X only gives about Full to mod.
I agree with Jim about the BP spreaders, they are a pain and I haven't used up all that I bought. I instead went to the X spreader that is from BP and inserted into the shot cup before crimping.
I have tried a few not shotcup wads from BP, but haven't patterned them yet.

DS - the barrel is, indeed, choked 0.035" and the right is choked 0.025".
Ran handling numbers with the velcro-on Galco leather pad and 1/2" thick wood spacer I use for extra LOP. Pat and spacer weigh 7 oz!! I hadn't thought of them as that heavy. Numbers with pad and spacer: 9# 2 oz, 5 1/2" to SS trigger, 2.96 unmounted, 11.74 mounted, and HWR of 12.26. That pad hangin' on the end of the butt moves the CG back by an inch, slows the unmounted swing by 20% and slows the mounted swing by 12%. As I said, this is a gun that requires some muscle.
