"Minor pitting" to one guy can look like caverns to the next...I'm not against shooting guns with "minor pitting" I'm just not to inclined to purchase a gun with minor pitting unless it's at a give away price...Especially in a Damascus barreled gun.

A gunsmith friend explained pitting like this to me....Look at 30 thousands on a caliper then look at 15 thousands then try and figure out how to measure the depth of "minor pitting". Most Sellers would have you believe that minor pitting is okay.

it's not at top dollar prices.

I'd rather have a "311" with clean barrels than a London gun with pitted barrels...because once the pitting starts it can't be stopped without polishing it completely out.
