As a matter of fact, jOe I'm thrilled with my latest gun purchase; a Remington model 17 20 ga. I believe it qualifies as a "fine firearm" in every way, and it has a lyman cutts compensater to boot. The spreader screw-in worked great this weekend on quail...Geo

I just acquired an old Red Ryder BB gun...in some peoples mind it could qualify as a fine firearm but last I checked this wasn't the Daisy Forum.

jOe, while you have every right to your own personal prejudices, it really becomes tiresome when you inflict them on the rest of us. Leave it alone...Geo

Thanks George. For "Homely Joseph" from the Vol State to continue his tirade against a few that appreciate ANY fine firearm, and the "Baby Model 12" certainly is that, indicates why he asked Ken about engraving a "Pig" on his Daisy Red Ryder BB gun- Trying to teach Joe manners and respect for other's opinions on this web-thingy is like trying to teach a pig to sing-an excercise in futility for both teacher and "porcine pupil" Joe, if you are so envious of some members who have the good taste to shoot (skeets-ducks-fezzants-quails) with either Model 12's or Model 42's- why don't you seel all your Stevens 311's and go look up John Allen at Game Fairy and beg, borrow or steal a real shotgun- a Model 12. I'd almost consider giving you one of mine, but then, with your request for the engraving of your favorite critter- Porky Pig, I recall the old admonition: "Don't cast your pearls before swine".. Thanks Eightbore, Kutter and Samuel. My initial reaction was that these guys were WHINERS and maybe they needed better hearing protection. Then I relented and decided I would try to reduce the noise, at least enough to stop the whining. I didn't want to give up shooting that little gun. It's so much fun for skeet, more fun than shooting my Parkers, Foxes, Smiths, English, German or Italian doubles (there Homeless, you happy? I talked about double guns).

rgh-well said. I am not a clays shooter, nor have I ever owned a .410, but if either: Warren Buffett makes be his sole inheritor of his estate, or the Publisher's Clearing Haus prize patrol actually gives me the big check, and $ were no object, I might like to own a .410 skeet gun- Not a Purdey O/U or a Parker CHE- but hands down, a Model 42. Of course, I love Model 12's like Hillary Clinton loves being back in "The Potomac Loop", so that's why I'd choose one. I did buy a Model 12 28 gauge- a pre WW11 by both serial number and the earlier 2 and 7/8" chambering-it's a field gun but with a 28" WS-2 choked solid rib barrel. I am guessing that is about modified choke. Plan to use it for doves next Fall.. Best deal on 28 gauge shells? Anyone have a suggestion- Cabela's and GM retailing them for almost $13.50 box-heard Fiocchi makes some "economy loads" for the 28.. Oh, I have a Cutts Comp tube in .410- as new- perfect threads- but it is Full Choke-someone with access to a machine shop could open it up to Mod. I suppose. RWTF

The WS-2 is a light modified, but will likely pattern better than a standard cut light modified. The Remington STS 28 gauge shells are excellent. Give them a try.
