I know of a gun with a stock that is highly figured english walnut on the left side and sapwood on the right side. The division of wood type is about 50/50. The stock has taken a "set" to the left so much as to be about unshootable for a right handed man. I suspect the reason for the "set" is the stronger mature wood pulling the sapwood its way. Is this type stock amenable to a bend; and if so, do you think the bend would be stable???...Geo
