Well bad news, the replacement sight on the rifle does not fit tight enough in the dovetail. Everytime I fire a shot the sight moves a little. I thought I would eventually replace the sight with an original but now it is a priority. Can anyone tell me where I can find an original one? Thanks, JB

I am pretty sure that Winchesters Model 70's used Lyman sights,
according to Strobel's book, a 6-W would be appropriate or a 16 if the rifle was made in 1955 and later. I am not sure if Lyman still makes the 16, these can be found on ebay.

Well the new rifle works great! I ended up putting a scope on it for this hunt but when I find the correct rear sight it will come off. I am officially hooked, I think my next rifle will be a Krag sporter. Best-JB

Nice hog, JB! Where did you shoot it? Pigs are wicked fun to hunt.

Nice piggie, J.B! Perfect for carnitas en salsa verde! And thanks for posting the caliber of your Winchester--I feel better now.

Doc, I have a 6W, was sold to me as being right for a Savage 99 but since then I have found out the 6W is a two blade sight specifically for M54's and pre-64 M70's chambered for the .375 H&H.

My problem lies in reconciling my gross habits with my net income.

GD, I was hunting my granddads place in East Texas. When I pulled out the Winchester he got a big smile on his face and said " Just like the one I shot when I was in the Army Marksmanship Unit".
I was hunting deer but with the new antler restrictions in place it makes it tough. Three little pigs came out and since I like to eat my pigs I took the smallest one in the bunch.

Mike, When I find my Krag I will be sure to post the caliber
Best-JB
