If you're going to consider interwar wildcats the .219 Donaldson Wasp should be a candidate. That's a neat cartridge that was the hot bench rest and varmit cartridge of its day but a bit of a pain to make. I had a friend in my Battery at Ft Sill with a Cadet in .218 Mashburn made by Mr Mashburn that was a wonderful little rifle but really too "modern" for what you're considering. For pre WW I there is the .22 Savage High Power, .22 WCF, .25-20SS, .25-20 WCF. Most of the Wildcats I'm familiar with are post WW II. I'm curious to see what you decide.
