billgrill, those are beautiful shotguns. I wanted a new one made just for me. Dick dup1, it weighs 5 3/4 it is the DE grade and I asked them to put exhibiton wood on it. Choked IC & MOD. Unlike many who order these shotguns, I never visited them in Connecticut. In fact,I never even saw one of their Fox shotguns except in pics on the internet. I have a friend who had seen some and spoke highly of them. I trust his judgement. They picked out the wood for me and did a great job. I think these shotguns are works of art as well as a great piece of craftmanship. The Fox handles like a magic wand! I think it's nice to look at also. I know I read some posts where people bash CSMC at times but I had a great journey with this whole process.

I would say you have a home run there. Also as long as your journey with csmc was good I would not worry about it. IC @ MOD at 5 3/4 lbs = 1 he!! of a bird gun around here. Enjoyed your pictures nice to see one out and not on csmc web site. Bill

Bill, what grade are those singles? They look like they may be Ks or a K and an L. I have missed some nice graded singles, including the GAM gun and the two that were auctioned in the last year or two. I finally found a high condition original J that I first fired yesterday, #400,176.

They are wonderful looking guns. Have you requested provenance on them? I will assist you in your search for the shooting records of the original owners if Mr. Callahan can give you their names.

Billgrill, I think eightbore is suggesting that he can help you look up when the gun was mfg. and to whom it was sent. he can probably help you look up the configuration of the gun as it left the factory, (can tell you if it is original) and if it was sent to anyone notable and for what repairs, if any it was sent back to the factory. hope this helps.

billgrill, I suggest you get letters of provenance from Mr. Callahan, which may assist you in placing a name with the gun. Assumming the first owner shot competitive trap, (not all of them did) he can be identified by name and accomplishments in old trapshooting publications like the annual ATA average books and such. Go on foxcollectors.com, register, and ask someone to give you the address for Mr. Callahan who has access to the
Fox records.
