Well,I picked it up, I'm not very impressed with the forend replacement so it will need attention to look right. Left side of the receiver looks hand engraved "George Gibbs Bristol" the right side has in small letters "Farquharson's Patent 178". Otherwise there are no markings on it anywhere, the barrel is totally unmarked and about 1 1/8 inch wide at the chamber and 7/8 at the muzzle. I looks to be 45-70 as described. I suspect finding a matching forend is really dreaming, the butt is original & very dark and a little shrunk around the metal but not sanded with good checkering in the straight wrist, metal buttplate with a checkerd top 1/4 including the screw. Any idea's about getting a matching forend? It woluld need to be dark wood and checker'd to match.
