I've had very good luck (NO rust, ever) with Researcher's method exactly, except using RIG from a rag with a bit of oil mixed in. I'd certainly be comfortable with Rocketman's procedure also.

While in humid FL, I had the early beginnings of rust spots form within 24 hours on a newly-acquired gun's bbls, which I'd wiped thoroughly with a silicone rag (the seller's), prior to flying home (with gun in luggage, declared).
