George is a bit thin skinned, expecially for a dealer, but I suspect that Lang would go about,as I said double the 1250 mid range of George L's estimate at a gun auction, maybe even a antique auction that sells guns in the case.

At auction it might....in the real world Georges estimate is closer to reality.

Seems to me some are pricing it on the name.

Name (Brand Value) is always a factor in price. The trick is to learn how much the name adds to the price. You will not be able to deduct Brand Value, but you can make sure it is not overvalued, either.

Dave K: George is not "thin skinned". He just does not suffer fools gladly.

Best Regards, George

George L...I don't believe I'm foolish, though you should ask my wife
I just thought your estimate was rather low.
My reply was to you, George , not the original poster , so I don't see how I "Dumped" on him...or you for that matter.
If i found a nice looking Lang BL that needed tightening for the $$ you mention , I'd buy it, if it fit me close.
Not sure how close +25% off is either.
I'll let you all know when I find one
cheers

Franc: For the record my repost was not directed at you. I admire your posts and knowledge.

Thanks all

overall comments are much appreciated. I consider the banter among similarly interested people amusing. To recap, compiling all info, 1 must give a value in current condition from $1500 to $2500, with a mean value of approximately $2000 U.S. funds. Hope I am correct. any ideas as to what the value would be if it was restored? ie. reblued and slack taken out of the action and cleaned up. and would you suggest case coloring the reciever or just leaving it as it is.

Oh and any ideas on that other gun I was mentioning in the original post.....?

Tiger ;
Your better off not putting any money in it if your going to sell it.You will not get it back out,let the next guy do with it what he wants.

BTW George L,your post proves my point, thin skinned and low class.

Tigertrout, I will dump on you. You said you had the Nigel Brown Books but there was no value. Well you missed Ken Duglan's telephone #. Why don't you call the one man who could tell you something about your gun rather than this acrimonious banter and low math
