ASavageFox, Trust what Steve "SKB" tells you. He's a great guy and a good SxS gunsmith. He does work for me and currently has one of my Sterlingworths.
Good luck and welcome the Fox fold.

took the barrels off, bring the ejectors out, install a snap cap or two and push the shells/ejectors into the chamber and they seem to enter just fine all the way to the bottom...attempt to install the barrels on the receiver...no chance.
it certianly has something to do with the shells being there as the snap caps have littlle indents around the outside of the flat of the snap-cap that is being made by the receiver flat.

Take the barrels off, push ejectors down all the way if they do not work freely. Load a new shell in each barrel and see if they stand up slightly above the face of the barrels. If they do then rims need recuttig. A shell fired in another gun swells usually and i have found that sometimes they will not fit properly in another guns chamber. Also check to see if any trash or? is under back of ejectors not allowing them to seat fully. SkB can fix you up! Bobby

An update...I was able to get my hands on some new unfired shells...and wala...it works just fine...gun closes nicely with no extra effort...seems both cheap snap-caps and once-fired shells both have issues.... time will tell... I plan to shoot it a bit...if I have problems down the road I will send it to SKB!
Thanks guys...I do have one other issue that I will post seperately.
Cheers
Drew

Had a similar problem on a 1909 CE.
Attacked problem from a different angle. Closed gun with no shells or snap caps and measured face off--less than 0.001 inch.
Closed gun with snap caps (machined brass that caused no face off change in my A grade Fox)--face off was greater than 0.010 inch.
Closed gun with unfired factory high base bismuth and face off was greater than 0.008 inch.
Repeated with unfired Remington Club shell and face off was greater than 0.004 inch.
I then measured the rim depth on the A Fox and a 12 guage Model 12 duck gun and they were approximately 0.012 deeper than the CE grade Fox.
Took the gun to my gunsmith and he confirmed my measurement and deepened the rims the appropriate amount and the "problem" went away.

My money is on snap caps out of spec. Did the fired shells come from that gun, I suspect not. Normally fire formed cases will function in the gun they were fired in.
But in the future: take the ejectors out and leave them out. try first with one round in right barrel, if closes okay, try with round in left barrel. If it works and closes without issue then its possibly an issue with ejector blades.
eliminate the variables.
even then it can be rim recess depths. The inverse to this is that I have found snap caps that fell behind the ejector blades because they were so small.

Is it nice and clean under the ejectors?
Is there any way the firing pins are protruding through their holes and dragging across the snap caps?
I have a Fox A-grade that before repairs would fail to retract the firing pins an adequate distance when opening the gun. The friction of the protruding pins against the fired primer would make the gun hard to open. Just curious if something of a similar nature could make a Fox hard to CLOSE.
